The philosophy

Excellence = Planning, Preparation, and PRESENTation. (EP3)

It's the foundation of and it's valued so much that it’s in the company's name.

I partner with people who strive for excellence and not perfection. Perfection is an unachievable ideal, a worthy chase but illusive. As you approach your idea of perfection, it has already moved.

Excellence on the other hand, is achievable. It requires consistent discipline and constant dedication, not for a day, but for a lifetime. It requires a change of perspective; a new orientation to be sustainable (see ORIENTATION5). It is not a singular effort or action but a habit of thought, action, and behavior (see CORE).

When we ask ourselves the question, did I do it (whatever it is) with excellence, we always know the answer. In that moment, the last thing we think about is what someone else did.

The biggest accomplishments in life were planned and took time to achieve.

Your children, your companies, your degrees, your work experience are all accumulations of time and resources. Even if they were initially unplanned, to have finished them, to have developed them to where or what they are now, took commitment and effort. It took a plan, even if unintentional.

We all have at least one goal but few of us devote the time and resources necessary to develop it effectively into an actual ACTION PLAN. Meeting with creates “enforced reflection time” where you stop, slow down, and think about what you’re doing now, why you’re doing it, and what you need to do next.

Your success stops where your character stops. You can never rise above the limitations of your character. ~ John C. Maxwell

It has often been said that character determines success more than anything else. But what exactly is character?

CHARACTER IS the sum of features and traits that form the individual nature of some person or thing. In the context of success, it's demonstrated in your habits. Are you reliable or are you unreliable? Are you responsible or irresponsible? Are you independent or dependent?

PREPARATION IS a process of systemically, actively and consistently developing the plan by working on the habits (Coaching) and skills (Training) to accomplish our task or our goals.

When you've planned, when you've prepared, there comes a time when you'll have to deliver. It might be a product, a company, or even a personal goal, but there is always a presentation. Your delivery is the end result.

To succeed on some of the biggest tasks of life, we need to have a different perspective of time. Many are spread thin between the Past, the Present, and the Future. Some struggle to move on from the their past, like letting go of unmet expectations. Others are stuck on what or where they were instead of focusing on where or what they are now. But the future can also be a seductive yet dangerous trap. We might falsely beleive that the future is some sort of cure-all for our present circumstances. But the future never arrives. We move through time, from present moment to present moment; the future is always one step ahead of us and just out of reach.

But the PRESENT… that's where life actually happens. Good or bad, it's reality and better than an imagained fantasy future or a haunting painful past. When we let go of the past and our expectations of the future, we can function fully NOW. We can actively change our present conditions (PRESENTation) and progress day by day, sometimes a only a little at a time, with OUR PLAN as we would like it to be and with daily PREPARATION of our habits and skills.
